Replacement CCTV System
Introduction
On the 28th March Elected Members approved a paper to deliver a project to replace CCTV in seven Borders towns that are currently operated by Scottish Borders Council.
These are Duns, Eyemouth, Galashiels, Hawick, Kelso, Melrose and Peebles.
The proposal will see the current antiquated system, which will become obsolete in 2025, replaced with a state of the art solution which will aid crime detection and evidencing in the region, act as deterrent in locations where cameras are sited, and help to improve safety in communities.
The full paper can be reviewed here alongside the Stage 1 Integrated Impact Assessment.
Views are being sought from the community on the the location of cameras, and to gather feedback and concerns to inform the development of the full Integrated Impact Assessment and Data Protection Impact Assessment in collaboration with Police Scotland.
The development of the documents ensure that we consider the impact of the project on peoples rights, and that privacy and information management is of the highest standard.
