Overview

Scottish Borders Council has received a request for the lease of the Old Corn Exchange Shop, Peebles High Street that will result in a change of use from a class 1 use to a hot food takeaway. Under the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 the local authority is required to consult with the local community when there is a proposal to change the use of Common Good property.

The lease applicant is Tweeddale Youth Action who are proposing to expand their existing Food Punks operation and will be offering takeaway pizza from the premises. They are initially targeting daytime trade and will be providing employment and training to young people not in education, employment or training.

This lease request has been approved by the Peebles Common Good Fund Sub-Committee subject to due regard of this public consultation and the applicant obtaining planning approval.
