Footway Parking 2023
Overview
The Transport (Scotland) Act 2019 has outlined some major changes to the way Scotland’s transport network will operate going forward including some new responsibilities that local authorities will assume.
Under these new regulations, parking on all pavements/footways will be prohibited with the exception of specific areas identified by local authorities that meet certain requirements.
This means that in the future, the only time when parking on the pavement/footway will be allowed, is if this has been agreed officially and Scottish Borders Council has erected the appropraite sign and road markings.

This consultation exercise is to establish locations where pavement/footway parking currently takes places within the Scottish Borders Council area. Once we have this information, assessments can then be carried out by officers to determine, if this can continue while meeting the regulations.
This survey will give the opportunity for up to 5 locations to be reported. If you have more than 5 locations, you will be required to repeat the survey.
