Overview

Peebles Parking Group consists of Peebles Councillors and Community Council as well as Scottish Borders Council Officers. 

Scottish Borders Council has been asked by Peebles Parking Group to collect data on the parking habits of residents, traders and visitors when using the town’s various car parks. 

This questionnaire will ask about:

  • existing parking habits,
  • existing parking charges
  • possible expansion of parking charges to other car parks in Peebles
  • Eastgate bus stop and taxi rank

The current charging arrangements for car parks in Peebles are as follows;

Kingsmeadows Car Park: free all day every day.

Neidpath Car Park: free all day every day.

Edinburgh Road (East Station): Saturday charging only from 08:30 to 5:00  

Up to 2 hours £0.50, 2-4 hours £1.50, 4-6 hours £3.00, over 6 hours £5.00

Greenside and Swimming Pool car parks Monday to Saturday charging from 08:30 to 5:00

Up to 2 hours £0.50, 2-4 hours £1.50, 4-6 hours £3.00, over 6 hours £5.00

Why your views matter

The data collected will feedback into the Peebles Parking Group for consideration and please be assured that if there is a view that parking charges should be extended to other car parks in Peebles then an additional comprehensive formal public consultation would be required prior to any decision making.

Any surplus funding generated from parking charges locally is already used to improve infrastructure in Peebles.
