Temporary 40 mph Speed Limit Consultation 2022

Closed 21 Feb 2022

Opened 28 Jan 2022

Overview

As part of the Sustrans Spaces for People program to encourage active travel during the Covid 19 pandemic the speed limit on the above roads were reduced to 40mph.  The Council is keen to gather the views of those who live and use these roads to determine if there is demand to retain the 40mph speed limit or to revert back to national speed limit.

If there is a demand to retain the 40mph speed limit this would result in new permanent signing along the route to alert drivers.

The two roads with a Temporary 40 mph speed limit that are being consulted on are:

  • Heriot, Fountainhall, Stow, Clovenfords back road
  • Lauder, Blainslie Earlston back road
