Overview

Scottish Borders Council is seeking your views on proposals to amend the catchment areas of Yarrow Primary School and Philiphaugh Community School, with the aim of increasing Yarrow's school roll and seeking to improve the school’s sustainability as a rural school near Selkirk.

Links to the Proposal Paper, Response Form and maps of the proposed new catchment areas can be found at the bottom of this page.

What happens next

At the end of the consultation period, Scottish Borders Council will provide copies of the responses (or if agreed a summary) to Education Scotland along with a summary of all oral representations made at the public meeting. Education Scotland will then visit the school(s) and meet with parents/carers, pupils and staff to discuss the proposal(s). Education Scotland will then prepare a report on the educational aspects of the proposal, taking into account the representations and meetings that they have had. The Education Scotland report will be published within 3 weeks of the receipt of the information from Scottish Borders Council.

After receiving the Education Scotland report, Scottish Borders Council will review the proposal taking account of all the written and oral representations and the Education Scotland report. The Council will then prepare and publish a consultation report which will include a recommendation and made available for inspection. The Council will not make a decision regarding the proposal until 3 weeks after the publication of the consultation report.
