Useful information
Below is some useful information which we hope will help you complete the survey questions.
About Community Asset Transfer
Asset transfer is a term generally used when the ownership of assets owned by public organisations is transferred to other organisations which are usually community based. This can also include leases or requests for use. There can be many benefits of this approach.
For more information, including about the process and available support, please see the Community Asset Transfer pages on the Council website.
About Common Good assets
Common Good is property owned by a local authority which has been passed down, through local government reorganisation, from former burghs. Those burghs would have received it as a gift or purchased it. It includes land and buildings, and moveable items such as furniture and art. It may include cash where property has been sold and income received.
Separate, specific consultations will be required in due course in the event that recommendations are developed regarding the transfer or sale of any Common Good properties.
For more information and a register of assets, visit the Common Good pages on the Council website.
Museum collection
Regardless of any future decisions on any museum/gallery facilities, the associated museum collection would remain owned/under the stewardship of Scottish Borders Council/Live Borders.
