Why your views matter

Scottish Borders Council is carrying out this consultation as part of our statutory duty to seek community views following a formal Community Asset Transfer (CAT) request for The Wilton Centre (The Arches) in Hawick. We want to understand how local people feel about this proposal and gather feedback that reflects the interests and priorities of the community.

Your input matters because it helps us provide clear, constructive feedback to the group applying for the transfer. This will allow them to deepen their understanding of community sentiment and, where appropriate, shape or adjust their plans to better meet local needs.

Taking part also ensures transparency in decision-making and gives you an opportunity to influence how assets are managed for the benefit of everyone. By sharing your views, you help us make informed decisions that balance the aspirations of the applicant with the wider interests of the community.

What happens next

Once the consultation closes, we will review all responses and publish a summary of the feedback received, highlighting the main themes and issues raised.

All responses will be shared with the applicant which will help them understand community perspectives and consider whether any adjustments to their proposal are appropriate. Any personal information included in responses will be redacted.
