SCOTTISH BORDERS COUNCIL – CITIZEN SPACE SURVEY
- This indicative and informative survey activity ran from 6th November 2023 to 9th December 2023 with a total of 597 responses. The survey was available online but paper copies and other formats were available. A full maildrop to all Ettrick and Yarrow Community Council area residential and business properties and to all properties on the wider route was sent out with a QR code to the survey – approx. 3000 properties in total.

- Key findings from the SBC Survey are
- Residents responses = 85%
- EYCC responses = 15% - 92 responses
- Effect leading up to event = 50% positive, 40% neutral and 10% negative
- Effect on day of event = 52% positive, 28% neutral and 20% negative
- Effect after event = 47% positive, 43% neutral and 10% negative
- Overall impact on Region = 78% positive, 16% negative, 6% neither/ no opinion
- Note – percentages have been rounded.
The survey results have been used in working with the Event Organiser and informing Local Elected Members and the Community Council. A decision has been reached that this event will not run as a closed road event in 2024 and the event organiser will be supported to run Tour O the Borders as a closed road event in 2025 on the new route subject to all normal conditions and permissions.

Scottish Borders Council are looking for the views of the community regarding the 2023 Tour o the Borders event which took place on Sunday 3rd September on closed roads.
