Scottish Borders Council Budget Consultation for 2025-26
Overview
The Scottish Borders is a picturesque rural region of rolling hills, historic towns, and huge character. But our population is ageing, and more and more people need the help and support of Scottish Borders Council. Our costs are continuing to rise, and our funding isn't keeping up with demand and other pressures. As a result, we expect to have a gap of around £50m over the next 10 years in the money the Council estimates ought to be to spent on delivering services.
Why your views matter
As our budget decisions get harder, it is more important than ever to know what residents think about the tough choices we need to make.
This consultation shows you a short summary of the proposals for how we can balance our budget. Your views will help to shape the final budget proposals that are presented to elected members, and will help them to make a final decision about Scottish Borders Council's budget in February 2025.
