Fountainhall Primary School Mothball Status Review Survey

Closes 16 Nov 2025

Opened 10 Oct 2025

Overview

Fountainhall Primary School was mothballed in June 2025 due to the numbers attending dropping to very low figures (1 primary child from August 2025) necessitating a temporary mothballing of the school to allow the doors to be closed at the end of summer term 2025.  As part of the mothballing report in June 2025, Officers committed to undertaking a full review of the school (and Early Years/ Nursery) which is also mothballed) to assess the long term viability of the school and the nursery provision attached.

As part of this review, Scottish Borders Council is committed to a survey of parents/ carers of primary age children and pre- school age children including infants in the Fountainhall catchment area to assess the viability of the primary and the nursery  in the longer term. We also wish community views from those in the catchment area about how to increase the demand and the viability of the school to try and grow the demand for the school.

The information will only be retained for the duration of the review.
