SCHOOL ESTATE CONSULTATION

PROPOSAL TO CLOSE FOUNTAINHALL PRIMARY SCHOOL  AND EARLY LEARNING AND CHILDCARE PROVISION AND REZONE PRIMARY CATCHMENT TO HERIOT PRIMARY SCHOOL

Fountainhall Primary School was temporarily closed in June 2025 due to the numbers attending dropping to very low figures (1 primary child in August 2025). Fountainhall Early Learning and Childcare ( ELC) provision was also temporarily closed prior to that in 2023, due to low enrolment numbers. An Options Appraisal has now been completed considering all reasonable options regarding the school and ELC. The appraisal indicated that the most appropriate option was a permanent closure of the school to take into account community preferences and to support the sustainability of Heriot Primary School and new ELC setting. The Council is now seeking your views on the proposals prior to making a final decision.
