Statutory Consultation - Proposal for Permanent closure of The Wilton Centre, Hawick
Overview
This is a Statutory Consultation in accordance with The Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 (As Amended). The purpose of this Consultation is to seek opinions on the Proposal for the permanent closure of The Wilton Centre (also known as The Arches), Hawick. The building is currently temporarily closed.
In May and June of 2024 there was an informal consultation on the proposal. We received 177 responses which identifed a wide range of views and opinions which need to be considered. We are undertaking this Formal Statutory Consultation to ensure further full and wide engagement and to comply with statutory obligations.
Please therefore, be assured, that if you responded with your opinion as part of the informal review, your view will be included within the formal statutory consultation.

Why your views matter
The aim of this Statutory Consultation is to ensure that local communities across the Scottish Borders are made aware of the Proposal to close the Wilton Centre permanently, and ensure that everyone who wants to have a say, does have a say.
There will be an in-person public meeting on Wednesday 23rd October 2024 6-8pm at Hawick High School.
Once the consultation has closed a report called a Consultation Report will be submitted to Elected Members. Elected Members will then make a final decision on the Proposal to close The Wilton Centre permanently.
