Please find below The Consultation Report for the Statutory Consultation on the Proposal for the Permanent closure of The Wilton Centre (also known as The Arches), Hawick, which was in run in accordance with The Schools (Consultation) (Scotland) Act 2010 (As Amended). The purpose of this Consultation was to seek opinions on the Proposal for the permanent closure of The Wilton Centre (also known as The Arches), Hawick. The building is currently temporarily closed.
In May and June of 2024 there was an informal consultation on the proposal. We received 177 responses which identifed a wide range of views and opinions which need to be considered. A formal Statutory Consultation was undertaken to ensure further full and wide engagement and to comply with statutory obligations. We received 80 responses online and 1 by email. We also received a report from Education Scotland on the educational benefits of the proposal in line with Statutory requirements.

Why your views matter
We now require to publish the Consultation Report, along with any other relevant documents and the Education Scotland Report. We invite further comments from Tuesday 28th January until 25th February 2025.
The Consultation Report and Proposal Report together with all other relevant documentation will then be considered by Scottish Borders Council who will make a decision at full Council on 27th March 2025.
