Overview
This public consultation has opened to gather feedback on the redevelopment of the former Jedburgh Grammar School site. The former school buildings are currently vacant and Scottish Borders Council (SBC) intends to sell the site as a commercial redevelopment opportunity to bring investment and regeneration to the town of Jedburgh. Conversion of the listed buildings to housing, hotel or care home have all been considered as possible opportunities for the site. This could also include redevelopment of the low value buildings for additional housing or a new supermarket.
Why your views matter
SBC is inviting the public to share their views on the redevelopment of the former Jedburgh Grammar School Site. The online consultation will be available until Sunday 21 August. In-person events in Jedburgh are also being arranged so that you can discuss your ideas and share your thoughts with SBC Officers. The dates and venues of these events will be promoted through SBC social media and local networks. There are a number of considerations to be made in relation to how this site will be redeveloped – flood risk, archaeology, integration with the built heritage, roads matters etc., and your feedback will also be used to inform how it is marketed to developers.
What happens next
Following the consultation, there will be an opportunity for further comment at the planning stage when more detailed proposals will be available.
